Pursuing higher education is an important milestone for many students after completing 12 standards. An exciting option that is gradually gaining popularity in India is the dual degree BTech+MTech program. This integrated course allows students to earn both a bachelor’s and a master's degree in technology and engineering in just 5 years which is further organized in 10 semesters of equal duration of 6 months each.
The dual degree program of BTech+MTech holds approval from national regulatory bodies like AICTE, UGC, and DEB. The dual degree BTech+M Tech programs can be pursued right after passing Grade 12 without any entrance exam. It offers major time-saving benefits as students can earn two degrees together in a single stretch. Students enrolling in BTech and MTech programs separately would have to spend 6 years – 4 years for a BTech and 2 years for an MTech degree.
But how does this program work? What are the eligibility criteria, admission process, fee structure, and other nitty-gritty of this novel program? Which institutes and universities offer this course? What are some of the major subjects and specializations available to choose from? In this blog post, we will provide students with comprehensive guidelines on dual degree engineering program that allows them to get both BTech and MTech degrees together in 5 years. Students will learn about the advantages of pursuing this integrated course over traditional engineering programs, its limitations, the difference in the curriculum and subjects covered, and top universities/ institutes across India such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, and others providing this option spanning across popular branches like Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering. Whether students are Grade 12 students still deciding their academic path or wish to change their conventional engineering course to save a year and gain additional skills via an M.Tech degree, this guide will address all key aspects related to dual BTech+MTech programs.
